Todd Parr's The I Love You Book

Todd Parr's latest (2009!) picture book is all about unconditional love and acceptance (which is what all Todd Parr books are about, when it comes right down to it). The big cut-out heart on the front cover makes it a perfect Valentine's Day book; Parr's characteristic pithy, conversational style and neo-primitive illustrations make it a great year 'round readaloud: "I love you when you are sick. / I love you when you feel better. / I love you when you give me kisses. / I love you when you need hugs."

The library has scads of the prolific Todd Parr's titles. While conventionally targeted to PreK/K set, in my humble opinion, they make for heartwarming reads for any age.
